THE CREAMERY by Double Bar K Farms

At Double Bar K Farms Micro Dairy we currently have three jersey cows.  Our first cow, Bella, we purchased from a small dairy as a bred heifer in July of 2020.  Last year, 2022, we added Queenie and Chee Chee.  Currently Bella and Queenie are being milked, and Chee Chee will be calving in the fall and will be milked through the winter.  This ensures that we can offer our raw dairy products year round!

Coming Soon: Double Bar K Farms is excited to announce that we will be offering Herd Share Memberships!  This Membership Program will provide you with fresh raw dairy products to fit your lifestyle.

We currently offer dairy products sold directly from the farm.  One important fact about our cows:  on our farm we calf share.  This means that our cows raise their calves.  Once the calves are 30 days old we begin separating the calves and cows for half of the day.  We milk the cows in the evening, and the calves and cows are put back together through the night and early morning.  When the calves are 90 days old we begin "long weaning", and we will keep them separated from the cows full time.  The calves will be able to nurse at the end of milking time for the first 2-4 weeks, after which time they are fully weaned.  We continue to milk the cows until they reach their 6th month of gestation, and then allow them to "dry off" until the birth of their next calf.
