The Miller Family

Meet the Millers

We want to take a little time to introduce ourselves. We are the Miller Family of Double Bar K Farms LLC. Chilton and Katy were married in 2009, and agriculture has always played a large role in their lives.  Chilton is an Alumni of the TCU Ranch Management Program and also holds a bachelors degree in Agribusiness with a minor in Agronomy from BYUI.  Katy has a bachelors degree in Secondary Education from ASU.  Chilton and Katy are blessed with three children: Aidan, Kason, and Makenna.

A Family Tradition

The Double Bar K Ranch was owned by Katy's Great Grandparents Walter and Faye Wiltbank in the White Mountains of  Arizona. It is fondly remembered by many summer campers as a children's summer ranch that was operated by Katy's Uncle Emer and Aunt Esther Wiltbank.  Katy's mother Cathy, along with her siblings Bill and Sarah, inherited this ranch and operated it for several years before the Double Bar K Ranch was sold. It has always been fondly remembered by many friends and family members. Katy and Chilton wanted to keep the family history of the Double Bar K alive, and in 2019 when they decided to follow their dream starting a farm, they selected a name based on their roots and the Double Bar K Farms LLC was born.

Cornerstones

Knowing the importance of our family history, it is easy to see that Family and Friendship are two of the  main cornerstones of our business and we are thrilled you have joined our circle.  To quote Chilton, who eloquently stated our purpose, "We believe that local human interaction coupled with the aim to provide local food provides the recipe for a more peaceful and heartfelt society."

Living the Dream

In 2021 we were able to fulfill a dream of ours and purchased our own small 80 acre farm near Brownell, KS. Our location in Scott City was leased with limited space, and so we decided to make the big move to live on the Farm! It was a challenging couple of months as we tried to find a way to build or move a home onto the farm. Our desire to build became impractical due to the extremely high cost of building materials at this time, and we changed our plan to finding an existing home as near as possible to the farm. Ultimately, we were blessed to be able to purchase the perfect home for our family in Ransom, which was only 10 minutes from the farm.  Double Bar K Farms was a dream that Chilton and Katy Miller have had for over a decade, and living that dream requires grit, determination, and love.

It's about community

The ups and downs of the last several years are a story many in agriculture would find familiar. However, one thing remained true for us through wind, hail, heat, bitter cold, and loss, we love this life. We love being a producer who can provide for our local communities. We love the land. We love the livestock. We love you! We can never thank you, our customers and loyal followers, enough for helping us make our dream into a reality.
